At the heart of Kyocera founder Dr. Kazuo Inamori’s philosophy is the motto, “Respect the Divine and Love People”. Guided by this philosophy, Kyocera Group and Kyocera Document Solutions UK specifically, are continuously working to reduce our environmental impact.
Kyocera Group UK are taking action to offset our UK operation’s carbon by working with partners to reforest our paper use and by funding carbon-reducing projects around the world. By carbon offsetting Scope 1+2 and certain Scope 3 GHG-emissions 2021/2022, we are proud to be a 100% carbon mitigation business.
Achieving 100% carbon mitigation status is an important milestone but that is only the start of our journey. We are realistic and acknowledge that we need to reduce our emissions as well as offsetting them. Atmospheric carbon and climate change are just part of the challenge we face. We need to reduce our consumption, recycle more and prevent plastic getting into the environment.
With Ecologi, we invest in international projects which are quantified against the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Ecologi support the leading industry standards including Gold Standard, VCS, Puro and 3rd party quality assessments such as Be Zero Carbon, Calyx Global, Renoster and Sylvera.
By investing in community projects throughout the world through Ecologi, we prevent carbon emissions equivalent to those that we’ve produced. This can take the form of protecting forests or supplying communities with methods of cooking that release less greenhouse gases.

Carbon removal project – the world’s largest mangrove restoration initiative focuses on restoring degraded mangrove forests, which act as highly efficient natural carbon sinks. It is expected to remove 127 million tCO₂e over its 60‑year duration.
Carbon removal project – restoring indigenous tree species is vital to create significant greenhouse gas (GHG) sinks, while enhancing biodiversity and ecosystem resilience.
Carbon avoidance project – decades of significant deforestation and social issues are addressed by safeguarding the tropical forest in the Matavén Reservation.
As well as reforesting all of the paper paper used by our UK operations, we’re reforesting the paper used by customers who purchase our TASKalfa Pro 15000c inkjet production printer through our partnership with PrintReleaf.

The project will transform the site with over 22 hectares of new vegetation, including 11.8 hectares of lush woodland and scrub. This restoration will not only boost biodiversity and capture carbon but also breathe new life into the landscape. The addition of a public footpath will open up the area for local residents to explore and enjoy, offering both environmental and recreational benefits to the community.
Bees are crucial pollinators for a wide variety of plants and are essential for our eco systems. Unfortunately, however, bees and other insects are in decline around the world. That’s why Kyocera UK have taken the step of installing bee hives on top of our Reading HQ! They’re hard at work pollinating flowers in nearby parks and gardens, helping nature thrive alongside us and as a bonus supplying us with our own Bee Kind Honey.
We’re immensely proud of our bees and their work ethic. In 2024 the 120,000 bees on our roof top produced a bumper ‘freebee’ harvest – 61kg of Kyocera Bee Kind honey, which makes us all feel rather humble.
Ever since Kyocera was founded, all corporate activities of the Kyocera Group have been based on our corporate motto of “Respect the Divine and Love People” and our three pillars of “LIVING TOGETHER”: coexistence with society, coexistence with global community, and coexistence with nature. We aim for sustainable growth while seeking to balance ecology and economy, and the entire Kyocera Group is committed to environmental management.
KYOCERA Document Solutions has achieved ISO 14001:2015, the international standard for environmental management systems. This highlights KYOCERA’s commitment to a sustainable environmental management strategy.
KYOCERA strives to certify all of its manufacturing plants and non-manufacturing facilities throughout the world to the ISO 14001:2015 standard. KYOCERA is committed to:
In line with Kyocera’s signature to the UN Global Compact, we are structuring our Social Responsibility Goals for the UK in support of the seven UN Sustainable Development Goals below.
Kyocera views solar as crucial for the future of our society. We are innovating to reduce our planet’s dependence on conventional energy sources, with ideas such as floating solar power plants to solar ventilation in the Toyota Prius.
Kyocera will continue to introduce solar power generation systems at our numerous locations and regions, and acquire environmental value certificates, aiming to achieve 100% renewable energy at all Kyocera Document Solutions Group locations by 2030.
We purify water used in our factories so that it’s cleaner when we’ve finished with it than the water in the public water supply. We work hard to make our factories and offices ‘green’, with rooftop solar power systems and ‘green curtains’ planted to grow over windows and outer walls, helping reduce our energy consumption. We also contribute to biodiversity conservation.
In manufacturing, various factors can lead to loss. However, this loss can be reduced to at or near zero through total awareness of all parties involved. Through our comprehensive approach to “visibility,” KYOCERA Document Solutions publicly shares all problem spots and issues with every employee. This approach utilises the awareness of each individual to minimise loss. All employees develop careful eyes for strictly checking each individual part, helping to achieve loss reduction. Multiple measures are taken to ensure product quality, including issuing acknowledgments even if a single potentially fatal defect is reported during the month. These are just some of the ways we evaluate our stance toward comprehensive product quality throughout the company.
Electric power consumption in stand-by and the default time it takes to enter this mode has an important Impact on the overall power consumption of the devices. In line with the “EC 801/2013” (Lot 26) regulations, the overview informs about the default timeouts the Devices take to enter into network standby (sleep) mode as well as the power consumption when connected to the stated interfaces.
